Going out for dinner in Sydney isn’t exactly simple. If you have already been here, you know well how many restaurants there are in the city, the choice is really complicated! Not only there is a huge number of new places to discover, but also a lot of cuisines to try: Thai, Lebanese, Greek, Mexican, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian food, there’s something for everyone!
Whatever your taste is, you will find an excellent restaurant in the city. Don’t end up going to the touristy places, look for those the locals love!
Even though we live in Australia, we have cherished our love for good food and for a good meal with friends. It’s the best medicine against nostalgia and it’s worth saying that here in Sydney we can find a lot of excellent restaurants!
In order to help you choosing, we asked our staff in Sydney to tell us what are the places they love the most. Those are their suggestions:

“I love to eat at the restaurant A Tavola in 79/73-75 Hall Street. The service is excellent and the quality of the produce is amazing, it feels like going back to Italy each time.
My favourite dish? Tagliatelle with mushrooms!”

“My favourite is Satang Thai Exclusive in 204/107-121 Quay street, next to Haymarket. The restaurant is really nice, great for any occasion. The location is great, right in the middle of the city centre, food is amazing, traditional and in big portions. Price is good as well!
Massaman beef curry is a must.”
Ester, Italian student counselor
“I love the Australian breakfast with avocado, eggs benedict, salmon, toast and ricotta. I prefer to go out for brunch than for dinner, it’s my favourite way to start the weekend!
My favourite place is called Two Ants and it’s located next to Elizabeth Bay, the address is 70 Elizabeth Bay Road.
I love it because breakfasts are exquisite, prices are below average and the owner, Franco, is very nice, he always remembers every client.
I usually have a fresh orange juice and the two ants mash.”
Paola, office manager
“I highly recommend San Fil de Gas, in 201/561-583 Polding St. It’s the best place where you can sit down and have a great Italian style piadina with real Italian ingredients, amazing gelato and wonderful desserts! I highly recommend the piadina with prosciutto crudo, rocket salad and mozzarella cheese, simple and so tasteful, followed by gelato burger as dessert!
Their healthy breakfasts are a must as well.”
Jonas, Spanish student counselor
“I really like the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel in 1 Military Road. It has a stunning view and it’s just right in front of one of the most beautiful beaches in all Sydney.
I usually order the grilled lamb rack. I used to have the sticky fingers ribs, but they don’t offer them anymore.”
Rocio, Spanish student counselor
“My favourite places are two: Society Pizzeria in 65 Bondi Road, and the Korean BBQ O Bal Tan in 363A Pitt St.
I love Society Pizzeria because pizza is really good and they have all you can eat on the Monday and Tuesday for $20, plus it’s BYO. My favourite pizza is Quattro Formaggi, Amaaaaaaaazing!
The first time I went to O Bal Tan, I thought it was really curious. You can taste some traditional food (sides) plus all the meat. It’sI’sa fun way to have dinner with your friends
I recommend the main course with all types of meat.”
Jorge, Spanish student counselor
“My favorite restaurant in Sydney is The Winery at Surry Hills, the king of formal, vintage restaurants with live music and worldwide selected wine list.
Last time I went there, I had the steak and it was cooked to my order. Everyone at our table ordered something different and they all enjoyed their dishes very much. The atmosphere is lovely and music is great. The service was awesome!
Best dish: Steak Tagliata 180g with rocket, sprouts, shallots, parmesan, green peppercorns, seeded mustard dressing.
The address is 285A Crown St.”
Bruna, administrator manager
“My favourite restaurant is in the beautiful Manly beach. Sunset Sabi is a fusion of Japanese and Mexican cuisine. They definitely know how to explore and do dishes differently.
My favourite dish is the dank roll.
They also have a very nice Cocktail bar, drinks are just so different that makes the whole experience very interesting.
Highlights to: whisky kick!
All followed by an excellent service. The address is 26/28 Pittwater Road.”

Must haves: San Choy Bau, Salt and Pepper Prawns and Wagyu Beef. Cocktail: the South-East.
China Doll is located in 4/6 Cowper Wharf Road”
