As you know we bond a special relationship with the students who leave for Australia and are delighted when they tell us about their successful stories.
Franco’s experience and his great payback
My name is Franco and I’m 38 years old. This year the financial crisis in Italy led to bankruptcy of several firms amongst which the one I was working for. So, I’ve decided to leap and make my way to Australia!
I’ve contacted Go Study Australia who supported me, from advising on the best schools to all the necessary Visa paperwork. Being older than 31 I no longer had the possibility to apply for a Working Holiday Visa.
I left mid-September, destination Brisbane from where my adventure started off in search of a better future!
From Italy I booked accommodation with a home-stay for the first couple of months. The hosting family was extremely welcoming. After three weeks of exhausting walks up and down the city and one too many job applications sent via the web, I received THE phone call: I went for the interview and got the job! I couldn’t believe it!
A phone call changed my life! After two months I was invited to my employer’s home for dinner and there and then he told me he wanted to sponsor me… I went speechless for five seconds before I could answer.
Not only. They found me a home (and furnished it) and for which they pay half of the expenses and gave me a company car! If I look back it seems unreal but so it is!
My advice to those who wish to make the leap and experience life in Australia is to be determined and focused, have at least a basic knowledge of English (it is essential believe me!) and a fair bit of courage because it is not at all that simple.
Safe journey and good luck to all… thank you Go Study.
