Hobby | I love exploring the beautiful nature Sydney has to offer. Bushwalking and discovering swimming spots around the Blue Mountains and coastal areas are some of the best experiences I’ve had. I also enjoy bouldering in the inner city of Sydney. |

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CITY?
Coming from Japan, I’ve always wanted to experience the diversity Australia provides. Sydney, by far the most diverse city in Australia, is full of friendly people and offers an incredible lifestyle. Here, I’ve been able to connect with people from all around the world in meaningful ways through the amazing activities Sydney offers. We have a thriving city life, breathtaking nature, wonderful people, and so much more!
TELL US ABOUT A 100% AUSSIE EXPERIENCE
In one of my university classes, I discovered that our lecturer used to live in my home suburb in Tokyo through a peer. This connection brought our class closer together, and now we see each other not just at university, but also outside! Many Aussies have fascinating and unique backgrounds, and they’re incredibly friendly. I think this kind of connection is something special that only happens in Australia, and I absolutely love it!
3 THINGS YOU LOVE ABOUT AUSTRALIA
- First, I love how safe Australian cities are. It’s amazing to live and study knowing you can walk around safely. Second, I adore Australian nature.
- From scenic coastal areas to breathtaking mountain views, Australia has everything a nature enthusiast could want.
- Lastly, Australians are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Locals are always willing to help when you’re facing challenges and are always up for making new friends.
AUSTRALIA IS UNIQUE BECAUSE…
Australia is one of the most accepting countries for internationals. As an international student, I was initially a bit scared to navigate life here. However, thanks to the warmth and friendliness of Australians, I adapted quickly and now love my life here. With the amazing activities Australia provides, it’s a unique environment that offers the best chance for newcomers to thrive!
GIVE ADVICE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO LEAVE
I recommend attending school and public events more often. It can feel isolating when you’re just starting out in a new country, but making new friends and being social can help you thrive in Australia. Also, don’t hesitate to consult with trusted people around you, like friends, school counsellors, and colleagues!
