If you are looking to stay in Australia, then you need to keep your eye on the ever-changing skilled job list that the government uses to determine who can get sponsored to stay in Australia. As a general rule, the Short Term Skills Shortage List allows people to hold a visa with full work rights that is valid for 2 years, and the medium-long term list allows people up to 4 years.  As permanent residency is the goal of many international students studying in Australia, professions on the Medium to Long Term Skills Shortage List are highly valued as they may allow sponsored applications to later gain residency in Australia.

Go Study has loads of special offers to assist you on your path to sponsorship eligibility. Please always consult with a migration agent first as there are often additional requirements such as work experience as well as numerous personal considerations.

On the 11th of March 2019, the Australian Government announced another round of changes to jobs on the list, and we are pleased to say most Go Study students would be happy to see some of these changes. Choreographers, footballers, musicians, and multimedia specialists will now be eligible to apply for Australia’s permanent residency after new occupations were added to the skilled job list this week.

This is great news as Go Study has a number of college and university partners offering affordable courses for these subject areas. Don’t forget, IT jobs like Web Developers and Computer Programmers are also on the Medium to Long Term Skills Shortage list.

For a full outline of all 516 skills on the Medium to Long Term list, please visit this website: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list Here you can find a list of the most demanded jobs in Australia. And see below for the additional jobs announced this week.
