Go Study Australia

Australia is a country as large as Europe, with many different climates and time zones.

There’s more than one type of Australia: you can come across crowded metropolises or uninhabited places. You may experience sunny, tropical climates or cooler, rainier ones.

Choosing your destination is therefore the first big decision to make before you leave.

Remember, our expert advisors have lived in Australia as international students and can give you the advice you need to choose the destination that best suits you.

Which one is the best city in Australia?

It’s not easy to know which is the right city in Australia. All have their charms…it really depends on what you are looking for. Many people choose the city in which to live their Australian experience without great awareness; they opt for a particular town, relying on the opinion of friends, and acquaintances, or by going on what is written in a travel blog or even based on the cost of the flight.

Instead, choosing the city is the first important decision to make when you decide to travel. To make your first impression of Australia as good as possible, our advice is: to choose the destination that’s closest to your personality and habits. The following is a quick guide to help you decide where to start your Australian experience.

If you like big cities, then you really have to choose between Sydney and Melbourne. Both have populations in excess of 4 million, and both are incredibly multicultural cities that are dynamic and full of diversity. But they are very different.

Sydney is famous for its great weather, sandy beaches, stunning harbour and for modern architecture. For those who love the outdoor lifestyle, it’s a great city.

Melbourne, on the other hand, is a much more “cultured” city. Some say that it has a more “European” feel.  If you like small streets, a more intimate atmosphere and sport (Melbourne is home to many of the biggest sporting events in Australia) then Melbourne may be the place for you. But do expect very mixed weather!

If beach life is for you, then you may want to consider a beach town. The most popular with our students are Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Mackay, and Cairns.

Byron Bay is famous for being the “hippy” town on the north coast of New South Wales. Here you can enjoy yoga and surfing in a wonderful subtropical town. Gold Coast is the fastest growing city in Australia, with high-rise buildings and an almost American lifestyle along 80 km of beaches. Mackay and Cairns offer a tropical lifestyle – great if you want to enjoy the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.

You’ll always be able to travel to another city during your stay. In Australia, it’s hard for people to stay in the same place for long.

The choice of the city is the first important decision to make when deciding to leave!
