Want to stay longer in Australia?

Here’s the top courses that can lead to Permanent Residency!

1. Any Bachelor of Master Degree
The Subclass 485 Graduate Visa is a temporary visa that allows international students who have recently graduates from an Australian education institution to stay in the country and work 2 years or more with unlimited work rights.
There are two streams; the Graduate Work stream is for students who have completed a qualification in a field that is in demand in Australia, while the Post-Study Work stream is for students who have completed any higher education degree.
International students can use this visa to obtain a further visa with better work rights, leading to permanent residency later on by gaining relevant work experience and meeting the eligibility criteria.

2. Information Technology
IT professionals are in high demand in Australia to fill skills shortages, so many employers are willing to sponsor skilled workers for visas. This is particularly true for specialisms such as cybersecurity, software development and artificial intelligence.

3. Commercial Cookery
There is a huge gourmet food culture in Australia which means there is a demand for skilled chefs. The hospitality industry is also one of the largest employers in the country and there is a significant shortage of chefs, meaning there is plenty of opportunities if you are qualified in this area. Cookery can lead to a career as a skilled chef and a pathway to PR.

4. Trades
There is also a lot of demand in trades such as motor mechanics, plumbing, carpentry and electrical work. Those with relevant qualifications and work experience may be eligible for a permanent visa through the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189). Many international students start their journey by studying such trades and end up obtaining PR at the end of their studies and after acquiring the relevant work experience.

5. Teaching
The Australian government recognises the importance of education and has made significant investments in the sector, which had resulted in a surge in job opportunities for qualified teachers – specifically in Early Childhood, Secondary School and Special Education Teachers.
After completing a Bachelors in Teaching or a Masters in Education, you could qualify for a temporary or permanent visa.

6. Engineering
There are many opportunities for skilled engineers to migrate to Australia as it is a high-demand industry. Engineers with a degree from a recognised insitution and relevant work experience may be eligible for a permanent visa, such as the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189). You can complete a Bachelors in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering whilst on a Student Visa in Australia.

7. Social Work
Social Work courses are becoming more and more popular worldwide. This is one of the careers listed in the Medium and Long Term Skills Shortage List (MLTSSL), which is a list of skilled occupations which are in high demand in Australia. This means that you could study Social Work whilst on a Student Visa and proceed to apply for permanent residency when you have completed your studied and gained the relevant work experience.

I would like to express my deepest thanks to everyone at Go Study Australia who, throughout this year on a WHV, have taken care of my project from the very first moment I set foot in Sydney. In particular, I would like to thank Lorenzo and Rebecca, who have supported me at all times with fast response times, and often even outside office hours when my requests were of an urgent nature. Their clarity in providing information, always up to date, is truly commendable, and their advice is consistently aimed at finding the best possible solution tailored to each individual’s needs. They have supported me especially when I decided to extend my stay through a Student Visa, with the long-term goal of obtaining Permanent Residency. They have excellent connections with registered migration agents, and their network of additional services that an overseas student may need in Australia is almost always or always available at discounted rates. They assisted me when I suddenly decided to change my study plan, but above all, when I found myself in a serious health emergency that could have jeopardised all the plans I had already made, they acted promptly and found a solution. A special thank you also goes to Robert, who stepped in and took care of my situation whenever my main contacts were not available. In short, I never once felt alone in dealing with the bureaucracy of a country as rule-oriented as Australia. If I had to summarise their work in a few words, I would choose: COMPETENCE, PROFESSIONALISM, ORGANISATION, and above all, a great deal of KINDNESS AND WARMTH. Finally, a big thank to Martina, who manages the organisation of events, giving all of us the opportunity to build a sense of community and enjoy social experiences at special rates. She also organises events focused on developing work-related skills, which are extremely useful for those taking their first steps in Australia. With them, I truly found the care and closeness that only a family can provide. Highly recommended.

I’ve had the best agents ever at Go Study. I started with them back in 2019 when I needed help obtaining a student visa, and Riccardo supported me through the entire process. He was genuinely lovely, incredibly helpful, and I don’t think I ever thanked him enough for how much I appreciated his support. When Riccardo unfortunately left, he introduced me to Francesco, who was just as brilliant. He ensured my Working Holiday Visa process went smoothly and consistently made the effort to support me every step of the way. Now I’m working with Chloe, and she is beyond brilliant and highly competent. Everything has been smooth sailing, with no issues at all—she always works to make sure my needs are met. Thank you so much to Riccardo, Francesco, and Chloe. I couldn’t have asked for better support and better people to assist me in navigating my journey in Australia.

I had an excellent experience with Go Study Australia, and I can’t recommend them enough — especially my agent Vanessa Vieira. Vanessa helped me throughout my college application and admission process, and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She works closely with Brazilian students and truly understands our needs and concerns when planning to study in Australia. She was extremely reliable, friendly, patient, and supportive, and she worked very hard on my case. Vanessa was always available to answer my questions, explain every step clearly, and make sure I felt confident and informed during the whole process. Her knowledge of the Australian education and immigration system is outstanding. What really stood out to me was how committed and caring she was — I genuinely felt supported, not just like another client. Thanks to her dedication and professionalism, my application and admission process went smoothly. If you are Brazilian and thinking about studying in Australia, I highly recommend Go Study Australia and especially Vanessa Vieira. You will be in very safe and capable hands.

Go Study is the best agency and a partner you can truly trust when applying for your student visa. I’m so happy with the whole process — it was smooth, supportive, and reassuring from start to finish. Chloe was incredible: always patient, full of support, and quick to respond. She took the time to understand my background and my concerns, and helped me believe in that process. Thanks to her guidance and encouragement, we made it happen! 🙌 I never would’ve tried on my own, I was too scared to start. Thank you, Go Study and Chloe, for helping me make my dream come true!

I had an excellent experience with Go Study Australia and I am especially grateful to Vanessa Vieira for her incredible support throughout my journey. From the very beginning, the team supported me at every stage of the process — assisting with communication with UTS, organizing all my documents, guiding me through the visa application, and making sure everything was handled carefully and on time. What truly made a difference, though, was the emotional and moral support. Moving abroad and dealing with visas, deadlines, and uncertainties is extremely stressful, and Vanessa was always there with patience, reassurance, and kindness. Knowing I had someone reliable and supportive made this whole process much lighter.
