Go Study Australia

“Don’t overthink it and just GO! You will have unforgettable experiences and see things you will not see anywhere else!”

After obtaining his degree in France, Lucas thought it would be a good time to go on an adventure! He arrived in Australia in 2017 with friends. His main goal was to learn the language and ideally, become bilingual.

Lucas has always been looking for new experiences and adventures! As soon as he set a foot in Australia, he was instantly amazed by the beautiful landscapes and climate the country has to offer. After enjoying the lifestyle of Perth for a few months, he then moved to Brisbane in January 2018.

Lucas wanted to share his experience with other or future students. He will continue his journey across the country and see where the wind takes him!

Hi Lucas! Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Lucas Martinez. I’m 26 years old and from Perpignan, France. I recently completed studies in Audio-visual Production and decided to travel abroad to improve my English. I never really travelled before and chose a faraway English-speaking country to combine learning and travelling!

I arrived in Perth with friends on October 26th, 2017. I immediately found a room in a shared house and a job in a cafe/restaurant, C15 Espresso. I took up kitesurfing in Perth at Soulkite, a great school which I highly recommend. Often, I would go on the banks of the Swan River to enjoy sports activities. I visited the city, its surroundings and went down south of the Margaret River.

I moved to Brisbane on January 12th, 2018. If all goes to plan, I will travel further inland to work on a farm and apply for the second year Visa. My goal is to learn English, discover Australia and have professional experience in my field.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Australia?

Waouw! I haven’t seen all that much yet but so far it’s amazing! I love this relaxed Australian vibe. People are friendly and the landscapes breathtaking! The colours of the sky at sunrise and sunset and the stars during the night are awesome!

What are your favourite places so far?

I have heaps of favourite places, for different reasons. I saw the first Kangaroos in Dunsborough. I loved Margaret River and its wild landscapes. I enjoyed Perth and the Swan River for its activities. Brisbane is a cool city with its South Bank.I share everything I love with my family and friends through my videos.

How did Australia change you?

So far, this journey gave me more confidence: I engage easily with people and I dare more!

What would you say to those thinking about coming to Australia?

Don’t overthink and GO! You will have unforgettable experiences and see things you will not see anywhere else!
